
Webinar: What progress will the EU Commission’s proposals in the rail passenger area bring and where could they be improved?
In this webinar, we will shed light on the very comprehensive proposals from 13 May, so that we can better participate in the debate and influence the decision-making processes that have been initiated.
The speakers will be Jon Worth, ERPU and Hibai Unzueta from Back-on-Track.eu. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
The webinar is organized by ERPU and Back-on-Track.eu and invitations have been sent to other key players such as EPF and BEUC.

New Norwegian trainsets, both for day- and night train services
On 29.4. 2026 we got a presentation of Norske Tog’s new long-distance trains, the FLIRT NEX from Stadler. We got insight in Norske Togs experience from the design phase and which approach our designers have applied when working together with Stadler, also with regards to the following focus areas concerning the design of night trains for Scandinavia:
- high passenger comfort, both at daytime and during the night
- high passenger capacity and good economic opportunities for operators
- high level of flexibility and robustness to last for many years
The presentation was held by Julian Zeitmann, who is Project Manager and Alexander Schybergson, who is lead for industrial design in this project.

Short notice track works and lacking international coordination have recently been the reason for many night train lines to be temporarily suspended. The EU aims to tackle this by imposing a track works coordination structure on network operators. Which structure did they have in mind? Will this solve the problem? More info.

We had invited one main speaker, who was Mr. Nino ZAMBARA, Single European Rail Area, European Commission, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport.
Mr. Zambara made a presentation about the tender “Pilot Project on the Revitalisation of Cross-border Night Trains”. The presentation was followed by a QnA session.
