A domestic German night train will run between Hamburg and Munich from 23th March 2027, stopping at Bremen and Augsburg: Nox Mobility today unveiled the carriage design featuring open-plan sleeping areas. Our team has already had a test sleep on board and reckons: Nice approach, go for ir! – Which also means: Nox is simply doing what DB didn’t dare to do (and now has other concerns). The service will be operated by TRI Train Rental GmbH, which speaks for its experience and reliability.

Departs Hamburg at 21:21, departs Bremen at 22:30 – arrives in Augsburg at 7:35, arrives in Munich at 8:14
Departs Munich at 21:20, departs Augsburg at 21:51 – arrives in Bremen at 7:20, arrives in Hamburg at 8:27
Also commendable: the journeys fit perfectly into the wider network, as Nox joins the flow of freight trains between Augsburg and Bremen at 100 km/h, thereby minimising stop-and-go for passengers. At just over 100 euros, it’s a fair deal – especially when you save on a hotel.
The service will launch with 14 carriages (formally used for DB’s Intercitys) and the open-top reclining seats, which therefore ‘officially’ constitute a seating carriage. In addition, there are plans for a small lounge area for drinks and so on. The loft compartments shown in the photos are still at the design stage. On-board service will be provided by the company’s own staff. We’re excited and look forward to seeing the 42 daily flights between MUC and HAM/BRE reduced. After all, the night train emits 28 times fewer climate-damaging greenhouse gases.
