Dutch government is pushing for more and better international rail services

The Dutch transport minister has now circulated a reworked position paper international rail passenger transport to Commissioners Vălean and Timmermans. Please see attached. The draft of this paper was first time presented and discussed in Holland on a conference on 15 November

It looks like a “high-level platform of interested Member States” will be set up and meet for the first time already in February or March this year. Work will be presented during the TEN-T days 13-15 May in Croatia.

From a Back-on-Track point of view this is important. Night trains are included, and you will identify many of our political suggestions with the Dutch paper. And with this initiative we might find a “coalition of the willing”, who will move ahead and take political leadership.
