Questionnaire for the EU Elections 2024

In 2021, the EU published a new report and a plan to relaunch night trains. However, this plan has remained unfunded and there is a continent-wide shortage of night train equipment. There is no commercial lobby for the night train, which puts it at a disadvantage compared to the intense lobbying by the aviation, the car and the HSL-construction industry. In this context, it is up to us, citizens, to encourage our future MEPs.

We set up the a questionnaire for the candidates to the EU parliamentary elections to ask them for policy commitments on night trains. We welcome you to direct your local candidates to this form and ask them for a commitment to support night trains in Europe:

In 2021, the EU launched an action plan to bring back night trains as an alternative way to travel. This plan remains unfunded for the moment.

Back-on-Track.eu promotes the revival of night trains in Europe as an environmentally-friendly alternative to aviation. 100 million passengers a year could be carried on 350 night train lines from 2035. I invite you to get involved by answering the organisation’s online questionnaire: Over the next term, how will you act to revive night trains?
