We did it: On April 29, 2024, we transformed ourselves into Back-on-Track Europe a.i.s.b.l., an international non-profit under Belgian law.
Before that day, Back-on-Track was just a loose network of national initiatives and individuals. In November 2023, we decided to go one step further and become a formal non-profit organisation – and just half a year later everything is in place! The new status
- qualifies our network for the participation in certain committees at European level
- gives us access to funded infrastructure, and
- enables us to apply for funding.
Most associations doing lobbying in Brussels choose the a.i.s.b.l. (= association internationale sans but lucratif) as a legal form. We are looking forward to all the new possibilities this opens up. This will definitively strengthen our lobbying to bring the night trains back on track on the European level.
The founding was made possible by a group of Back on Track volunteers from different countries that spent quite some time working out statutes for the a.i.s.b.l., and by donations from 14 countries in our recent fundraiser. We say thank you to all our supporters!
